With more than 90 years of global animal health experience, Vetoquinol has long been a trusted name in animal health. Its story begins in 1933 when Joseph Frechin, a French pharmacist and his father, a veterinarian, had the idea of using the antiseptic properties of oxyquinoline to treat animals. This medicine — called “Vetoquinol” — was marketed in various forms such as soluble tablets, gels, and ointments.
In 1962, the company expanded and added a veterinary department to its pharmaceutical activities. By the 1960s, Vetoquinol had established a network of subsidiaries covering five continents.
Agility and independence today
Today, the third generation of the Frechin family remains at the helm of the company. Managed by a family shareholding, the company combines agility and speed thanks to its size and strong values rooted in entrepreneurial drive, innovation, and team spirit.
Vetoquinol now focuses on companion animals and livestock in three major regions of the world (Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific) with a growing emphasis on making high-quality animal health products more accessible to pet owners through over-the-counter (OTC) availability.
