Thankful for Banana Pudding!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get those pots and pans ready for the great holiday feast! A decadent array of turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, pumpkin pie, and banana pudding. Wait… banana pudding?!

Bananas are a great treat for your dogs, making it a fun add-on for Thanksgiving! Here are a few variations of banana pudding you can make for your sweet pups:

  1. Yogurt Banana Pudding
  • Ingredients:
    • banana, Ripe
    • ½ cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Directions:
    1. Peel the banana and place in a medium bowl. Mash the banana until it is mushy and contains little to no lumps.
    2. Add the Greek yogurt to the bowl containing the banana and combine.
    3. Put a small amount in a bowl for your dog and serve.

Want the pudding to be a little more festive? Add 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree to the bowl and combine with the banana and Greek yogurt until fully incorporated. It’s easy!

  1. Spiced Banana Pudding
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 banana, ripe
    • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
    • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
    • 1 tsp. honey
  • Directions:
    1. Peel the banana and place in a medium bowl. Mash the banana until it is mushy and contains little to no lumps.
    2. Add a small amount of the banana to the dish you will serve your dog. Put a dollop of whipped cream on top. Then add the cinnamon and serve.
  1. Peanut Butter Banana Pudding
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 banana, ripe
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened peanut butter (be sure this is free of xylitol and birch sugar, which are toxic to dogs)
    • a dollop of sugar free whipped cream (be sure this is free of xylitol and birch sugar, which are toxic to dogs)
  • Directions:
    1. Peel the banana and place in a medium bowl. Mash the banana until it is mushy and contains little to no lumps.
    2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.
    3. Put a small amount in a bowl for your dog and serve.

No matter the pudding you choose, these banana puddings will make your dogs’ Thanksgiving experiences that much sweeter!
