Durvet Recipes: Peanut Butter and Banana Pup Treats

Did someone say Trick or Treat?! There is no better way to show your neighborhood furry friends extra love on Halloween than making a fresh batch of homemade treats. These mouth-watering, peanut butter, banana and oatmeal treats are sure to be a hit!

Your furry friends deserves the best, especially when it comes to food. Made using 5 all-natural ingredients, you don't have to worry about any suspicious by-products or preservatives. Your pup would request these delicious treats every week if they could!

Start by gathering your ingredients and preheating your oven to 300°F. Your furry friend will thank you later!

For this delicious pup treat recipe, you will need 1 egg, 1/2 cup mashed banana, 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup flour, and of course 1/3 cup peanut butter (make sure it contains NO xylitol). Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that can be toxic to dogs.

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl (order doesn't matter), and stir until a thick dough forms.

After stirring, the dough should turn out similar in consistency to the picture above. If dough feels too sticky, add more flour.

Using your hands, roll dough into 1 inch balls and spread evenly across a lightly-greased baking sheet. Another option is to use a rolling pin to roll the dough out flat on a floured surface. Then, use doggy cookie cutters of your choice to shape your treats!

Using the back side of a spoon, flatten the treat balls to your desired thickness.

Flattened treat balls will look similar to the picture above. This treat recipe will yield approximately 30 servings.

Once you have finished flattening your treats, place them in a 300°F oven for approximately 20 minutes.

While the treats are in the oven, make sure you have someone to keep an extra close eye (and sniffer) on them. The smell that wafts from the oven while making these treats is amazing!

After 20 minutes has expired, carefully remove treats from the oven and let cool for 20 to 30 minutes before serving. Store treats in an airtight container. You may refrigerate or freeze these treats for longer lasting freshness.

Enjoy!
